Drone + LiDAR Scan and Unreal Engine Digital Twin of Retail Store Project Summary Hardware & General Supplies Limited (H&G) is seeking an experienced provider to capture, process, and build a digital twin of one of our retail trade stores located in Sydney, Australia. The twin will be used for store redesign and layout planning—allowing our team to move shelving, counters, displays, and entrances in a virtual environment to explore redesign options and operational flow. We’re looking for a team or freelancer with hands-on experience in drone/LiDAR scanning and Unreal Engine visualisation (or Twinmotion/Unity equivalents). Objectives Produce a high-accuracy, photorealistic 3D model of the store interior and exterior. Deliver a navigable Unreal Engine environment (accurate to scale) where users can reposition fixtures, test layouts, and visualise customer flow. Output must be optimised for both performance and realism, suitable for internal planning and presentation use. Scope of Work 1. Site Capture Full 3D capture of one H&G store (~2,000–5,000 m² including yard). Use a combination of drone photogrammetry (for exterior & high ceilings) and handheld LiDAR (for interiors). Deliver raw and processed scan data (point cloud, aligned and cleaned). Minimum spatial accuracy: 1–2 cm. 2. Processing & Modelling Convert scans into clean, textured 3D geometry (mesh). Segment and tag major store elements (racks, counters, aisles, displays, entrances). Optimise file size for smooth Unreal performance (Nanite preferred). 3. Unreal Engine Build Import model into Unreal Engine 5 (or Twinmotion/Unity equivalent). Create an interactive environment where key assets (racks, counters, etc.) can be moved or hidden. Include lighting controls (day/night toggle or adjustable brightness). Provide measurement and snapshot tools. Optional: short fly-through video or VR-ready export. 4. Deliverables Raw scan data (LiDAR + photogrammetry). Clean point cloud and textured mesh (.fbx/.obj/.udatasmith). Unreal Engine 5 project file (.uproject) with movable fixtures. Executable demo (.exe or WebGL) for non-technical users. Short user guide for H&G staff. Location Sydney, Australia (store located on Northern Beaches). On-site scanning required; modelling work can be remote. Desired Experience Proven experience with drone photogrammetry and LiDAR scanning of retail, industrial, or warehouse spaces. Strong Unreal Engine 5 or Twinmotion skills (Nanite, Lumen, Blueprints). Ability to segment assets into manipulable components. Understanding of large-scale mesh optimisation and lighting setup. Preferably Australian-based or able to deploy scanning equipment locally. Submission Requirements Please include: Examples or links to at least two similar 3D scan → Unreal/twin projects. Description of hardware and workflow (drone, LiDAR unit, processing software). Proposed timeline and cost breakdown (scanning, processing, Unreal build). Team members and roles. Any optional enhancements (e.g., VR support, analytics overlays). Estimated Timeline Milestone Duration Project award Week 0 On-site scanning Week 1 Model processing & cleanup Weeks 2–3 Unreal environment build Weeks 4–6 Final delivery & revisions Week 7 How to Apply Please submit your proposal through this platform. Questions and clarifications welcome before submission. Screening Questions Have you previously created a 3D environment in Unreal Engine from drone or LiDAR data? What scanning hardware do you use, and what is its spatial accuracy? Can you provide a short video demo or link to a previous store/industrial digital twin? What is your expected turnaround time for a 3,000 m² site? Are you able to complete on-site scanning in Sydney or partner with a local provider?
