I am stuck on WordPress 5.8 (or earlier) because every attempt to run core, theme, or plugin updates throws the “cURL error 77” message. I’m not aware of any recent server tweaks, but I do have full cPanel access if we need to dig into SSL libraries, certificates, or system packages. Here’s what I need: first, pinpoint and resolve the root cause of cURL 77 so updates work normally again. If for any reason that proves impossible, plan B is to spin up a clean copy of the site—either on a staging sub-domain or a fresh directory—bring everything up to date there, and migrate it back without downtime.
