Overall Idea: 1. Factory storage tank leak: A rusty chemical storage tank at a small factory springs a leak overnight. Greenish liquid seeps across the pavement and drains into the neighborhood’s storm ditch. 2. Community garden pesticides: Volunteers at the community garden spray too much pesticide on the vegetables. The next morning, sprinklers turn on and wash the excess into the street drains. 3a. Neighborhood trash: A neighbor drags an overfilled trash can to the curb on a windy day. Plastic wrappers and bottles spill out and roll toward the storm drain. 3b. Neighborhood lawn mowing: A man mows his lawn and leaves piles of fresh clippings on the sidewalk. Later, rain washes the clippings into the gutter, clogging the drain. 4. Neighborhood playground: Kids play at the park while parents leave empty snack bags and soda cans behind. A gust of wind carries the trash toward the drainage ditch. 5. Construction site dirt: A bulldozer pushes a big pile of loose soil to the edge of a construction lot.
