Users can already claim and edit their own business listings in WordPress. I want Airtable to act as the main CMS for managing listings, events, and articles, while keeping existing front-end editing for users. The system must 1. Sync data both ways between Airtable and WordPress. 2. Handle automated content generation for articles and events. 3. Include an admin approval step before publishing. 4. Be reliable, well-documented, and easy to maintain. Core Deliverables 1. Airtable to WordPress sync • Mirror all existing business listings, events, and blog posts into Airtable. • Allow admin updates in Airtable to publish back to WordPress after approval. • Capture edits made by logged-in WordPress users and sync them back to Airtable. • Use REST API, ACF fields, and Yoast SEO fields for mapping. 2. Event automation (highest priority) • Integrate the Data Thistle JSON event feed (about 1,600 events). • Keep Airtable and WordPress automatically updated as events are added, changed, or cancelled. • Never overwrite or delete events created directly by site users. • Implement accurate venue mapping so each event links to a Place listing. Manual mapping preferred; automated or LLM mapping acceptable for new venues. • Cancelled events in the feed should be unpublished or marked cancelled in WordPress. 3. AI article workflows • Option A: Generate full articles from a title and short description using the ChatGPT API. • Option B: Pull external RSS feeds, fetch full content, rewrite in Brighton Insider style, regenerate images with the Gemini API, and store results in Airtable for admin approval. 4. Business listing verification • Weekly or manual Google Maps API check to detect closed businesses or updated hours. • Flag differences in Airtable for admin review. 5. Admin workflow • All new or updated records stay in Airtable until the admin marks them as approved. • Approved records are synced live to WordPress.
