Palm-Sized Autonomous Floor Sweeper

My goal is to build a palm-sized, battery-powered robot that quietly keeps smooth floors—tiles and hardwood—free of dust using compact sweeping brushes. When it finishes a run, it should locate its dock, couple for charging, and stay parked until the next scheduled cycle. Key functions I need baked into the prototype: • Automatic scheduling and self-start so daily cleaning can happen hands-off. • Reliable docking alignment for both charging and safe storage. • Gentle yet effective sweeping action tailored for smooth surfaces—no vacuum module is required. • On-board mapping that lets the robot learn room outlines and set virtual keep-out areas without having to install physical barriers. Size is important, everything must fit within a typical adult palm, including drivetrain, battery pack, and control electronics. I’m open on the exact sensor suite (infrared, ultrasonic, LIDAR, or hybrids) as long as obstacle avoidance is consistent and mapping remains accurate but for simplicity happy to have a mapping mode where physical barriers can be placed with the robot having a memory of what was recorded Deliverables 1. Fully assembled working prototype with charging dock. 2. Firmware source code and a simple interface (mobile or desktop) for scheduling and map management. If easier can map with fixed objects and robot had a memory feature 3. CAD files, schematics, and a brief build log so refinements or small-batch production are possible. A short demonstration video and a written test reports confirming autonomous cleaning, docking reliability, and mapping accuracy will serve as acceptance criteria. Off-the-shelf modules are welcome where they make sense, but the finished unit must remain compact, safe, and ready for iterative improvements. It should be water resistant Exact scope and details to be discussed with NDA
