Moderated WordPress Membership Setup

I need a simple but reliable membership gate added to my WordPress site. New visitors should see a standard registration form (username, email, password, first/last name. Once they sign up, their account must remain in a “pending” state until I, the Administrator, manually approve or reject it. When I take that action, the system must automatically email the applicant to let them know whether they were accepted or denied. Successful applicants then gain access to pages and posts that are hidden from the public. No additional roles are required. You’re welcome to implement this with a lightweight, well-maintained plugin such as New User Approve, WP-Members, or a small custom function—whichever keeps the site fast, secure, and easy to update. NEW USER APPROVE IS ALREADY INSTALLED, I JUST NEED SOMEONE TO CONFIGURE IT. THIS WILL TAKE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE PLUGIN Deliverables • Install and configure the chosen solution on my staging site • Protect at least one sample page so I can verify the lock • Set up approval/rejection email templates and demonstrate they send correctly • Provide short written steps showing where I approve users and edit those emails • Move the working setup to production once I sign off No need for custom fields, role hierarchies, or advanced user dashboards—just a clean approval workflow with notification emails. Let me know which tool you recommend and how quickly you can complete the setup.
