GA4 & GTM Conversion Tracking Setup

Our Google Analytics 4 property is up, but the event layer is still thin. Through Google Tag Manager I want a clean, future-proof configuration that turns every meaningful website and click-to-call action into a GA4 event and, where relevant, a marked conversion. The scope centres on two traffic sources—our website and the phone calls initiated from it. Within those, the interactions I need captured are: form submissions, key button clicks, important page views and the “tap-to-call” event. Each must fire through GTM with clear, well-named triggers, tested in Preview and real-time debug modes, then surfaced in GA4 as standard events or conversions as appropriate. I rely on these signals for marketing optimisation, so the data layer must accurately feed user demographics, event counts, conversion rate and CTR into GA4 reports (and by extension Google Ads). No generic templates, please; tag parameters should be mapped to our real URL paths and CSS selectors, and data-layer pushes documented. Deliverables • Updated GTM container (export file + published version) • All GA4 event and conversion definitions, QA’d and live • Short hand-off guide showing where to view each metric in GA4 & Explorations Once everything validates and I can see the four metrics rolling into GA4 within 48 hours, the job is done.
