Android App Blocker Development

I need an Android-only application that lets users pick any installed app—Instagram is the classic example—set a lockout period (say, two hours), and be certain that the chosen app stays closed until that countdown reaches zero. Key behaviour: whenever the user tries to launch the blocked app, or when one of their own scheduled lock intervals kicks in, a full-screen timer overlay should take over, showing how long is left before access is restored. Tapping Back or Home must not bypass it. The timer has to be fully customisable: minutes, hours, or even multiple days, with the ability to edit or cancel future schedules before they start (but never once the lock is active). I’m happy with a lean MVP, yet the core flow—select app ➜ set timer ➜ enforce block ➜ overlay countdown—is non-negotiable. If you’ve built accessibility-service-based blockers or used Device Admin APIs before, tell me; smooth, battery-friendly enforcement matters. Deliverables: • APK plus complete, well-commented Android Studio project • Clear README on required permissions and how you circumvent OEM battery optimisations • Short demo video proving the overlay trigger in both scenarios I’ll test on Pixel and Samsung devices running Android 13+. Looking forward to your approach.
