Technical Accessibility Checks • Images: Every image has a meaningful alt text describing its content or purpose. • Headings: There is only one h1 per page, and headings follow a logical order (h2, h3, etc.). • Keyboard Navigation: You can navigate the entire site using only the keyboard (Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Esc). The focus outline (highlight) is visible. • Contrast: Text color vs. background color meets the minimum contrast ratio (4.5:1). Use WebAIM Contrast Checker. • CSS Separation: Visual design (CSS) is separate from the content (HTML), so screen readers can interpret text correctly. ⸻ 2. Accessibility Plugin (Widget) • Make sure the accessibility icon is visible on every page. • When clicked, the menu opens and allows users to: • Increase/decrease text size • Change color contrast or background • Highlight links • Stop animations/flashes • Navigate with keyboard • Check that each feature actually works and refreshes the page if required. ⸻ 3. Assistive Technologies • Test your site using screen readers: • NVDA (Windows) or VoiceOver (Mac). • Make sure it reads: • Page titles correctly • Headings in order • Buttons and links with clear labels (no “click here” without context). ⸻ 4.
