I keep missing calls because I forget my Galaxy S22 is muted. What I need is a small Android service that quietly watches the ringer state and, the moment the phone switches to Silent or Vibrate, drops a persistent status-bar notification. Icon-only is perfect—just the classic mute symbol—no text, no extra banners. The Icon should be clearly visible in the "Always On Screen". As soon as the ringer returns to Normal the notification must disappear, so I always know at a glance whether sound is off. The implementation is up to you as long as it: • queries the system ringer API reliably on modern Android versions, • survives Doze, battery-optimisation and reboot, • plays nicely with Samsung’s One UI (including showing on the Always-On Display), and • stays entirely in the background with no extra taps from me. Deliverables: 1. Signed APK for quick install. 2. Full source (Kotlin or Java) with build instruction. 3. Brief read-me outlining permissions used and how the service keeps itself alive. I will test first on my S22; once the indicator holds steady through silent toggles and reboots the job is done.
