I operate a busy restaurant and now need a purpose-built management system whose first and most critical module is a full Point-of-Sale that runs flawlessly on our Windows and macOS desktop computers at the front counter. Core objective • Create a stable, intuitive POS interface for order entry, payment processing, discounts, table splits and print-ready receipts. • Provide a simple back-office view so I can update menu items, prices and taxes without touching code. • Store all transactions in a secure database that can generate daily, weekly and monthly sales reports. Although inventory or reservation features may be added later, this initial engagement is strictly about the desktop POS workflow. The build can be web-based (browser) or native; whichever approach you prefer, as long as staff can start taking orders fast and the system keeps running even if the internet drops. Acceptance criteria 1. POS UI loads in under three seconds on standard office hardware (8 GB RAM). 2. End-to-end sale—from item selection to printed receipt—completes in under 30 seconds. 3. Sales data exports cleanly to CSV or Excel for accounting. 4. Source code and brief setup guide delivered so I can deploy it on an in-house server.
