Freelance Interior Architect/Designer for Indian-Inspired Restaurant Project Project Overview Location: Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland Theme: Indian-inspired modern ambiance Floor Area: ~160 m² + 60m2 in basement Budget: Approx. CHF 150,000 (including construction, materials, and design fees) We are planning a new restaurant that blends contemporary design with rich Indian inspirations. The goal is to create a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects Indian culture in a modern way while ensuring a practical layout for efficient service. This is an exciting opportunity to shape an entire restaurant’s look and feel from the ground up, balancing creativity with functional design. Role & Responsibilities For this project, the interior architect/designer will lead all aspects of the design process from concept through execution. Key responsibilities include: Concept to Execution: Lead the interior design process from initial concept development to final installation, ensuring the design vision is carried through every stage. Moodboards & Materials: Develop detailed mood boards and cohesive material/finish palettes to capture the desired Indian-modern theme and ambiance. Technical Drawings: Prepare comprehensive technical drawings and specifications (floor plans, elevations, sections, details) for construction and permitting purposes. Kitchen Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen planners/engineers to integrate an efficient, code-compliant kitchen layout that aligns with the overall design and operational needs. Furniture & Sourcing: Assist in sourcing and selecting furniture, fixtures, and materials that meet the design vision and the budget (including obtaining samples and quotes for key elements). Project Coordination: Provide support during the build phase, either on-site or remotely, to answer design-related questions, coordinate with contractors, and ensure the design is executed correctly and according to plan. Ideal Candidate We seek a professional who is both imaginative and technically skilled, with a track record in hospitality design (food & beverage projects). The ideal candidate will have: Hospitality Design Experience: Proven experience in interior design for restaurants, cafes, or other hospitality venues, with an understanding of F&B operational flow and requirements. Creative Vision & Technical Skills: Strong design portfolio showcasing both creative concept development and detailed technical execution (from moodboards and 3D visuals to construction drawings). Software Proficiency: Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD or Revit for drawings, SketchUp or 3D rendering tools for visuals, Adobe Creative Suite for presentations). Collaborative Approach: Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a broader team (owners, engineers, contractors). Experience coordinating with kitchen designers or mechanical engineers is a plus. Budget Awareness: Ability to design within budget constraints (CHF 150k total project) by proposing cost-effective solutions and value-engineering ideas without compromising the design integrity. Availability: Willingness to occasionally be on-site in Yverdon-les-Bains for key meetings or inspections if possible. Candidates based in Switzerland or nearby (and able to travel for site visits) are preferred. However, we are open to remote candidates who can demonstrate effective remote collaboration and oversight strategies. How to Apply To apply, please provide the following in your proposal: Portfolio: Examples of previous interior design projects – especially any restaurant, bar, or hospitality interiors – that showcase your style and capabilities. Highlight any Indian or themed design work if available. Pricing: Your proposed pricing structure (whether a fixed project fee or an hourly rate) and any estimate of the total design cost for this scope. Please ensure your pricing aligns with the project’s budget constraints. Location & Availability: Your current location and availability. Specify whether you can work on-site/hybrid in Switzerland or will work remotely, and your availability to start and deliver the project (e.g. immediate start, how many hours per week, any other commitments). Optional: A brief note about why you’re interested in this project and how your experience will contribute to a successful restaurant design. Feel free to mention any initial ideas or relevant cultural design insights you have for an Indian-inspired modern ambiance. We look forward to reviewing your proposals. This project is a chance to create a memorable dining environment with a distinct personality. If you are passionate about designing impactful hospitality spaces and meet the above requirements, we’d love to hear from you!
