We are looking to hire an experienced Naval Engineer (or Marine Systems Designer) to assist in the remote design and technical planning of a custom 6-passenger floating sauna vessel. The vessel will feature a wood-fired sauna stove and a gas-powered outboard motor, and must be designed for safe, stable operation on inland lakes. The engineer will provide CAD drawings, materials recommendations, and system layouts (propulsion, steering, plumbing, electrical, and fireproofing) that comply with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) and ABYC standards. Responsibilities Design or review the hull structure and confirm buoyancy, displacement, and stability. Recommend appropriate materials for hull, deck, framing, and sauna enclosure (marine-grade wood, aluminum, fiberglass, etc.). Integrate fireproofing and heat shielding around the wood-fired sauna stove and chimney. Specify motor type, horsepower, and mounting suitable for a 6-passenger craft. Design steering and throttle linkages for low-speed navigation and docking. Advise on fuel system layout and ventilation (tank, vent line, and hose routing). Develop simple plumbing and electrical layouts for a marine toilet, sink, and lighting/pump systems. Ensure all recommendations comply with ABYC and USCG small-craft construction standards. Provide 2D/3D drawings and technical documentation suitable for fabrication and insurance approval. Qualifications Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Proven experience designing small craft, pontoons, or floating structures. Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Rhino, or SolidWorks). Knowledge of marine propulsion, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. Understanding of ABYC / USCG standards. Ability to communicate clearly and deliver detailed documentation remotely.
